Looking to improve your audio on a YouTube channel or podcast ? Or just looking to get a microphone that is high quality yet extremely flexible? Maybe even Just happen to hear the hype behind the Blue Yeti microphone?

I am Brandon and today I will be answering those questions and more with BAD Tech & Gaming's review of the Blue Yeti

Without further ado lets begin

We have 4 categories today

Great Good BAD Horrible.

Starting off with the GREAT CATAGORY the Audio quality is superb, this microphone has Studio quality audio in fact this whole video is voiced over using the Yeti so plug in some good headphones and let me know what you think as well.

Also in the GREAT CATAGORY is the Ease of use

I have rarely used a device where it just works no questions asked also I have used a few microphones in the past that require different hardware or software to run properly. This one is simple, all you have to do is plug it into a computer with the provided cable and bam it works as easy as that. Seriously I am a tech fanatic yet I have rarely dabbled in the art of audio so I am no expert. Thank you Blue Yeti for making something that just works

More Greats, there are 4 Different Modes that you can toggle between

Primarily I use this mic for streaming and recording videos I mostly use the front firing mic or the front and back if i have other people who want to stream with me.

There are a total of 4 different modes utilizing 3 different microphones in the top piece here.

Hold on let me copy and past from Blues website... that is actually called bluedesigns for the record seems odd that's all i'm saying

Moving on

  1. Cardoid Mode - Records In front of the microphone best for streaming podcasts or music.

  2. Stereo Mode - uses both left and right channels to capture a wide realistic sound. Useful for recording a choir

  3. Omnidirectional mode - which is best for live performance more than one person in a podcast or conference call.

  4. Bidirectional mode - recording from front to back which is intended for more of a two person I interview style.

A nice touch in the GREAT CATEGORY is the Built in Headphone Jack so that way you can hear your self live with 0 delay, for those of us who are not experts in audio this is one less thing to worry about.

Build Quality is also GREAT

all in all this is one if not my favorite thing about the blue yeti. Not only does it feel solid it also has a good weight to it like you are holding something professional something with value. After all part of the claim is that this is a professional grade USB microphone. it has an all metal build or at least it all feels metal

GOOD CATEGORY

Stand, needs more padding. Mic can pick up sounds through the desk it is really annoying when you are using this device on your desk and the computer fan kicks in or someone downstairs shuts a door and you can actually her it as a vibration throughout the desk. there should be a buffer or a thinker padding on the bottom of the device

Can come in a Bundle Package one thing I thought was GOOD was the fact that this mic often comes inside a bundle package for the same price if not it may be a little bit more! I got Assassin's Creed Odyssey for free because I purchased this mic. Not to mention that it was cheaper than the original microphone. See link in description for details. This was fantastic for me and sold me on buying it and oo mmmmaannn they have it in rred now!!! (slowly zoom in on the red microphone then pop down to the Assassins creed one)

Gain control is GOOD

You can adjust the top back dial to adjust how sensitive the mice input is. I have rarely turned this past 10% capacity it get so sensitive you can hear me scratch my nose!

BAD

Often times it Picks up Noises I don't want it to even though mic is directional. So because this is a professional type microphone it is very sensitive. It does have a gain control so you can tune it to help with your situation. However the more gain applied the more static you pick up. For me I mostly use this as a streaming mic so there is a computer with a loud fan in the background. This forces me to turn the gain All the way down.

HORRIBLE

I had this issue with one of my computers early on when using it but It can Generate a Digital hum if the computer is plugged into the wall or if the fans are running on high. Even using a USB hub

More details on this, there are two things that can cause a static digital noise in the Microphone. Because it is USB if there is any digital feedback it is hard to get rid of, 1 of these things is a high voltage power adapter plugged into the computer. To fix this you simply unplug it. The second which is a bit harder to work around is the fan, this old House that I have has loud fans that don't always work properly which creates a bad feedback. Making streaming a challenge, I will link how I overcome this in another video.

CONCLUSION

The Blue Yeti is an easy to use Microphone that requires little knowledge of tech and little to no set up. This being under $150 is an astonishing thing. This microphone can upgrade your Streams, videos, online chat, and anything you would use a microphone for. I would recommend this microphone to anyone even to some who are professionals. P.S. Listed in the description will be streams that i have used the Blue yeti microphone in.
